to the web site of the Peterborough Photographic Society (PPS). A camera club developed in 1983 for Peterborough, Ontario and surrounding areas. The growing membership has its' meetings monthly from September through June, and prides itself on having a variety of other fun filled activities throughout the year.
We are sorry but your browser does not handle frames. Please consider updating to a current browser, this will give you added security and allow you to take advantage of all the new technologies available today. In an effort to accomodate you at this time we are presenting all text portions of the web site below. Unfortunately, all the photos are encased in Flash and Java shows and are not viewable with your browser. All browsers created since 2003 are frames capable, just thought you might want to know.
The Peterborough Photographic Society is based in Peterborough, Ontario, serving the Kawarthas region. We are an eclectic group of photographers, ranging from "How do I turn this camera on?"to "I'd be lost without my 400 f/2.8!", who meet regularly for the enjoyment (not to mention poking fun at our president) and extension of our skills in all aspects of the craft and art of photography.
Our members work in both optical (film) and/or digital imaging. Although there is a growing interest in digital, the main emphasis remains the image, and not the medium.
Our newly revamped web site is best viewed at 1024 x 768 or higher resolution and uses frames. As you've already surmised, many of our slide shows have accompanying music. We are also availing ourselves of the latest tried and true web technologies such as Flash, Java, Acrobat and others. If you experience any trouble please make sure you have the latest program versions from the respective companies.
Our 60 plus members have a variety of backgrounds, but all with a common interest in photography. Our goal is to help you make photographs and not take snapshots.
We welcome new members of all ages and abilities. In fact, we even invite you to two meetings free of charge! If you enjoy taking pictures, sometimes wonder what you could have done to make that shot turn out better, would like to learn more about photography, or would like to share your expertise and blunders (we all have boxes and hard drives full of blunders) with others, we would be pleased to have you join our group.
The membership fee is $35.00 for an individual, and $45.00 for a family. It covers a period of one year from September to June. Summer is for family and photographing fun filled days.
We meet on the first Tuesday of the month, September through June, in the church hall, lower level, of St. Andrews United Church, 441 Rubidge Street, Peterborough. Members gather at 7 p.m. with the meeting starting at 7:30 p.m. The first part of the meeting is usually a presentation, followed by a short break, then presentation of members' photos.
Members’ photos are displayed in four categories.
Guests are welcome. Join us for an interesting and enjoyable photographic evening, and see how our club operates. You may attend two meetings free of charge as a guest, and if you like what you see, we would be delighted to have you become a member.
